“After a year of health problems, resulting in very little exercise, I decided to try Pilates to regain my strength and confidence. Karen was recommended to me by a friend and after two private sessions with her I realised I’d made the right decision to join her classes. She is professional and friendly, listening attentively to my specific needs and addressing them thoroughly and thoughtfully. I started off feeling sluggish and incapable of achieving much, but her patience and excellent communication skills have enabled me to feel confident and more alive.”
Do you have a particular problem area, such as your knees, shoulders, hips, back or feet, that causes you some difficulty or discomfort in your day to day life? Are you heading towards (or hoping to avoid) hip or knee replacements and want to know how to strengthen the areas around the joint so that it is better supported while you wait (and in a better condition to begin recovery)? Are you curious to know which particular exercises would help you most with your hobbies or help you achieve a sporting or movement goal? Or would you like assistance understanding and practising the exercisesprescribed by your Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor or Podiatrist?
Would you like a personalised exercise plan that will help you feel great after you go swimming, play tennis, do the gardening or go for long walks? Or perhaps a “made to measure” mobility routine that makes you feel better after sitting at your desk or in your car for hours at a time?
Are your "babies" now at school (or college) and you finally have the time to focus on your nagging back pain, core or pelvic floor?
Would you like to prevent the development or worsening of bunions so that you can avoid foot and knee pain and remain active for longer?
Are you new to Pilates and want to learn the basics before joining a group class?
Would you prefer to learn in a 1:1 or 1:2 setting so that all the sessions can be completely tailored to your individual needs and interests?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions or have any other movement “niggles” or goals, then a series of 1:1 targeted exercise sessions may be the perfect solution.
Our group classes are a fun, sociable way to keep our bodies moving and they are a fantastic tool for all over body maintenance, providing a regular dose of mobility training. They help to improve our posture, muscle balance and body awareness, plus they contribute to our recommended 2 – 3 sessions per week of balance-enhancing activity.
But from time to time there can be parts of our bodies that need extra focus to speed up strengthening, reduce our aches and pains more quickly, and ensure we are doing everything we can to prevent physical problems down the line.
During 1:1 sessions we can spend time focussing on exactly what you and your body most need, at a speed and intensity that suits you, AND we can create a bespoke homework plan to work on in-between sessions helping you to feel better and stronger more quickly and to reach your physical or movement goals. To complement our group classes, private sessions every few months (with a homework programme) can be great way to BOOST your strengthening and get over any movement niggles that seem to be hanging around or prevent them from arising in the first place!!!

“I have osteoarthritis so suffer from joint pain and stiffness in my knees. A friend recommended joining Karen’s Worth Pilates class. Initially I had 121 sessions where Karen devised a programme to help me manage my knee pain. I now enjoy weekly classes which helps to ease the pain and has improved my balance and flexibility. I would encourage anyone to come along and try Pilates plus Karen is an excellent teacher’.”

Introductory 1:1 or 1:2 Pilates Sessions (before joining a group class)
If you are completelynew to Pilates, it will be necessary to attend at least three private sessions before joining an existing Mixed Ability / Level 1 class. This enables us to discuss the information on your enrolment form and allows you to begin to 'learn the basics' of Pilates. Introductory Private Sessions also provide opportunity for individual assessment and tailored advice before joining a group class. A mini homework programme can be given to help to kick start your journey towards any movement goals you may have or begin to address any aches, pains or areas of stiffness or imbalance that you may have. Clients also find these initial sessions a great way to "demystify" Pilates and discover that it really can be for anyone!
A 5% discount is available for these Introductory Sessions when also booking a block of group classes. Please contact me for details. It may also be necessary to attend one or 2 private sessions if you have certain injuries or medical conditions, in order to determine which group class would be most suitable, learn any modifications that would be necessary in a group class or determine whether private sessions would be most appropriate at this time.
Beginners without injuries can come straight into any of my Beginner's Level Group Classes.
